- How-To In the VQ -This tutorial is a basic -how to- for VQ. This will cover all the things a newbie would need to know. Though most of what will be covered is some what obvious when playing, some newbies need the extra instructions to get them started and to understand. So this is for them. The following is the contents of what will be covered: - How to Challenge/Accept or Decline Fights (Arena) - How to Fight/Blitz (Arena) - How to Bet (Arena) - How to Move/Fight in the Dungeon of Despair (DoD) - How to Enter Halls, and What They Do (General) - How to Purchase Weapons/Armor/Shield (General) - How to Organize Attacks/Spells (General) - How to Create/Restore Backups (General) How-To Challenge opponenets in the arena; and How-To Accept/Decline Fights: First thing to know, there are four arenas in which people spar in. Of those four arenas, they are categorized into two types: HTML Servers, and Java Servers. Here is a lesson on how to challenge/accept/decline fights in the two types of arenas. HTML Server: This server is recommended for people's whose browsers' do not support Java based applets. Here, your browser refreshes every 10 seconds, and this server does not accept any commands (i.e.-challenging, chatting, etc.) under 10 seconds. Accepting/Declining: To accept or decline go to the drop down menu and select whether you would like to, accept, fight or not like to, decline, fight. Challenging: To challenge, choose the opponent you would like to fight and check the radio (circle) next to their name and click the button labeled 'Challenge Player'. Fighting-: To fight, you are given a limited amount of choice to choose from in the drop down menu after accepting a fight. You may choose Advance to Melee, which allows you to use your melee weapon, Retreat to Missile, which lets you use your missile weapon, or use your spell/attack. Java Server: If your browser is java-able I would recommend you use this server because it is quicker and easier to use than the HTML server. You are only able to accept fights until 5 seconds has passed. Accepting/Declining: To accept or decline choose the accept/decline buttons on the bottom left part of the java applet, next to the displayed fights section. Challenging: To challenge, left click your selected opponent, and right click the 'Challenge'option. As you may notice you are able to view your opponents stats, and ignore them as well from the given options. Fighting: To fight, you are given a limited amount of choice to choose from in the drop down menu after accepting a fight. You may choose Advance to Melee, which allows you to use your melee weapon, Retreat to Missile, which lets you use your missile weapon, or use your spell/attack. How-To Fight/Blitz in the Arena Fighting is enabled when one is challenged, and the opponent accepts. Once the fighting feature is triggered, a drop down menu will appear with a variety of options to choose from. Normally these options are when starting out as a Novice: 1x attack, Advance To Melee (When In Missile Range), Retreat to Missile (When In Melee Range), and Spells (if Spellcaster), or Attacks (if Non-Spellcaster, or perhaps both. From the menu, choose an option and click the button next to the menu that is labeled: Do Move. *You are not able to use your melee weapon in missile range (1x attack) and vice versa, you cannot use your missile weapon in melee range.* How-To Bet in the Arena Betting is very useful and simple to do in VQ, especially in Novice, but will become useless by the time you have become a Grand Master. So don't rely on this feature too long. So, in order to bet, the fight must be considered 'bettable' by the referee of the arena. You will be able to tell when fights are bettable when the ref will say phrases such as, "Bets are open on this fight for 20 seconds." or "Should be good, open for 20 ticks". So for whatever fight is available to bet on, you right click on the displayed fights screen on the fight you would like to bet on. Now you are given limited options of how much you would care to bet ranging from: 5g, 25g,50g, 100g, 200g, or 500g. All you do now is click how much gold you would like to bet, choose which fighter you would like to bet on then choose the button on the right labeled 'Bet'. How-To Move/Fight in the DoD The DoD is very useful in retreiving special spells, attacks, weapons/armor, and books that help your statistics. Though the DoD helps, it can also ruin, though not totally, your account. Moving the wrong way, or picking up the wrong Book of Learning could alter your account into a different direction, whether it be positive or negative. In order to move in the DoD, you first take a glance at the side navigation bar. At the top of the navigation bar there is somewhat of a compass with red highlighted arrows pointing north, south, east and west. Just click one of those arrows to move a certain direction. Ex. - North - Up, West - Left. When you come across a monster, this is where you have the opportunity to fight. The fighting basics are the same as when you are in the Arena. There is a drop down menu of fighting options. (i.e.-Advance to Melee, Retreat to Missile, 1x attack, etc.) Then all you do is click 'In Fight'. Above the drop down menu shows the combat that is occurring and that is all for fighting in the DoD. How-To Enter Halls, and What They Do There are three halls and three stores in Vagabonds Quest. The following is the name of each hall/store and what they can do for you. Each hall/store is represented in VQ with a square icon depicting the name and a picture. (i.e.- Nexus Hall/Pic=Sphinx Head) Class Hall- This is where you buy your basic weapons, spells, armor, shields for your specific class. (i.e.- Paladins- Paladins Hall, Fighters - Fighters Hall, etc.) You also may reload missile weapons/repair armor and shields that originate from this hall. Dragon's Hall- This is a more advanced hall where you will find better weapons, spells, armor, and shields. Also, when you can afford it, you can buy the famous Falados Slayer (1d200+50, Melee), and Fireball (1d100+50, Missile). You also may reload missile weapons/repair armor and shields that originate from this hall. This hall requires 5,000 gold to enter. Nexus Hall- This hall is what I would like to label the 'Statistics Enhancer'. Only useful when you become a Grandmaster and receive a high and steady income. You are able to lower your to hit, to cast, to save, etc. in exchange for large sums of gold. The cheapest thing in the Nexus Hall is about 200,000 gold. Also, you can change the name of your Falados Slayer for 2 million gold. This hall also requires 100,000 gold to enter. Weapons Store- This store sells weapons for melee and missile range. Thats it. Armor Store- This store sells armor and shields. Thats it. General Store- This store repairs armor and shields and reloads missile weapons. Thats it. (Simple? I hope so.) How-To Purchase/Reload Weapons/Spells/Armor/Shield To purchase/repair a weapon, spell, armor, and shield visit one of the store above, except the Nexus Hall. There will be lists of each type of item and a radio, or circle, where you can check off whether you want to buy it or not. Once you have checked off the item of your choice, click the button labeled 'Buy _________'. Get it? Example: 'Buy Missile Weapon'. To reload/repair items you simply go back to the originating source and click the link that says 'Repair/Reload _________'. Some items cannot be repaired and reloaded and you will have to purchase the item again. Example: Merlines Wand of Power (1d80+2), 50,000 gold - You cannot reload this weapon and must buy it again in order to use it again. How-To Organize Attacks/Spells Go to your main menu, after logging into Vagabond's Quest. You will see a variety of icons for halls and stores, links for the servers, and buttons for helping your account. Find the gray button close to the password changer labled 'Combat Organizer'. You will be given a page that shows all the attacks/spells you have bought and received. There are three sections of the given data: A drop down menu showing the order of which your attacks/spells are in, a checkbox to check if you would like to delete unused attacks/spells, and your attacks/spells. Use the drop down menus to order your attacks/spells the way you prefer. Temporarily delete attacks/spells to your needs by clicking the checkbox. Then click the button at the bottom labeled 'Organize'. When your complete, click the button even further at the bottom labeled 'Back to Main Menu'. How-To Create/Restore Backups Go to your main menu, after logging into Vagabond's Quest. Find the two gray buttons on the close-to-bottom, right side, button labeled 'Create Backup' and 'Restore Backup'. Here are instructions for both: After clicking the 'Create Backup' button to create a backup you will be brought to a page confirming your backup was created. Click the 'Back to Main Menu' button to go back. Click the 'Restore Backup' button and your brought to a page giving you a drop down menu with three dates in eastern time of your last three backups you created. Of course, you choose the backup you would like to have and click the button labeled 'Restore'. Now you are brought to a page showing what stats you are restoring to and warning you that if you do choose to restore, your current stats are overwritten and that the restoration is permanent. If you choose to continue click the button labeled 'Restore As Seen - *WARNING*'. To choose a different backup go to the bottom and choose from the drop down menu. To go to the main menu, choose the 'Back to Main Menu' button. |
